Esperanto & AI: How I Learn, Build, and Create with AI

 I had been learning Esperanto for more than ten years before I started studying AI.

At first, they were two separate interests. Then I began combining them.

I used AI to build an Esperanto vocabulary game, improve it through repeated prompting and testing, create an Esperanto children's story, and even design banners for an Esperanto congress.

Along the way, Esperanto became something unexpected: my personal AI laboratory.

🎮 From learning Esperanto to building with it

My first big experiment was simple: could I turn my Esperanto vocabulary into a working web game even though I wasn't an experienced programmer?

With Gemini Canvas, I did.

🔗 I built my first Esperanto word game with AI and discovered that an idea could become a working web app without starting from traditional coding.

But improving the game was harder than creating the first version.

Prompts could fix one feature and break another. I learned to make smaller changes, test them carefully, and save working versions.

🌍 Building Vortovermo Global

Later, I rebuilt the project for international learners as Vortovermo Global, an Esperanto–English vocabulary game.

This time, the biggest challenge wasn't the code. It was the vocabulary.

AI could help organize and process the words, but my own Esperanto knowledge was still necessary to decide whether the English meanings actually worked for learners.

📖🎨 Esperanto became a creative AI experiment too

The experiments didn't stop with coding.

I used Gemini Storybook to explore AI-generated Esperanto children's stories.

More recently, I used AI while designing banners for the 58th Korean Esperanto Congress—and discovered that Esperanto letters such as ĉ, ĝ, ŝ, and ŭ could become a surprisingly difficult problem for AI-generated images.

🤖 My Esperanto × AI laboratory

These projects may look different, but they have one thing in common.

Esperanto gave me something I already knew well enough to test AI with. AI gave me new ways to build and create with Esperanto.

That's why I no longer think of them as two separate interests.

For me, Esperanto has become a place to experiment with AI—through games, language learning, storytelling, design, and whatever I decide to build next.
